Independence Day is celebrated as a national holiday for all nations who have assumed independent statehood. Some countries celebrate as a national day while others celebrate as Independence. Bearing all this in mind here is an idea for an Old Fashioned Independence Day party idea.
While planning the guest list always remember that asking the guest to participate in supplying for the event is fine. Foods can be assigned as well as decorations. The guest list is sure to include family and friends but could be extended to make it a community event. This event could even be advertised and with a R. S. V. P. Which would allow the event cost to be shared with all and an event to remember for the years to come. Decorating for an event like this can be shared as well. The local stores in the community most likely would donate paper supplies like cups and plates for the event and if not that could be shared as well.
Be sure to let the guest know the color theme for the event. For the old fashioned type celebration the list of food is simple. Every one that participates with the food can of course bring what ever the administrator of the event assigns but the all time favorites include fried chicken, potato salad, roasted corn on the cob, fruit salad just to name a few. There should be an extended list to accommodate everyone of all ages. Games for the event can include several for all ages. Balloon brigade is an old fashioned game that people still enjoy. Fill a water balloon with water and line everyone up, the first person passes over head to the next person in line, the second person passes between there legs to the next and follow this sequence to the end. When the balloon reaches the end that person runs to the front of the line and it starts over again until the original first person is back to the front.
Whether you choose an area that is near where your local fire works are done or do your own there is ample choices in that area as well. Just check with local officials to make sure of any legal issues. With that done there will be nothing left but to have a seat and enjoy. Family and friends spending time together for the holidays is a wonderful start to any event. Always be safe and check the rules with local officials. Then enjoy this old fashioned Independence Day party idea.
